New Leadership Announced at Cox Fire Protection

Florida’s premier fire sprinkler contractor appoints Scott Cox as President and Shane Rushlo as Director of Pre-Construction Services

Tampa, Fla., Friday, May 12, 2017 – Cox Fire Protection, Florida’s premier fire sprinkler and fire protection services company, announced this week, that Scott Cox, a 2004 graduate of Anderson University and son of founders Ron and Linda Cox, has been promoted to the role of President. “Scott has assumed an active role in managing the daily operations of the business and deserves the title associated with the work he is doing,” says Ron Cox.

“For more than 30 years, our passion to protect families and businesses has been realized with the growth and success of Cox Fire,” said Linda Cox. “While we’re beginning to step away from daily operations, we know our mission will continue to be realized with our tremendous staff, as well as the company’s new leadership.”

Founded in 1984, Cox Fire has grown to be one of the Southeast’s largest fire sprinkler contractors. Under their combined leadership, Cox Fire was named one of the Top 25 Women Owned Businesses in the Greater Tampa Bay area, recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal in 2014, ‘15 and ‘16, was named one of Florida’s 100 Fastest Growing Businesses in 2016 , and was named one of USF’s Fast 56 – Top 56 Bull-Led Businesses internationally, in 2016 and 2017.  Scott started with Cox Fire in 2006 and moved into management in 2013   Under his leadership in his position as Director of Preconstruction from 2013 – 2017, Cox Fire experienced an 87% growth in revenue.  In 2015, Associated Builders and Contractor’s Gulf Coast Chapter named Scott Cox the Young Professional of the Year.

Longtime employee, Shane Rushlo has accepted the position of Director of Pre-Construction Services, previously held by Scott. Rushlo started with the company in 2001, and attended apprenticeship school through Associated Builders and Contractors.  In 2006, in a national competition held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Rushlo was named the #1 Sprinkler Fitter in the country.   That experience launched a very successful career with Cox Fire, with Shane growing from tradesman and builder, to successful roles in project management and contract sales. “Shane’s dedication to this company and the clients we serve is unparalleled, and we’re thrilled to promote him to the director level,” said Scott Cox. “The work ethic demonstrated throughout his career has prepared him for this new leadership challenge and I look forward to seeing our company continue to grow under his leadership.”
